My skates are too loose by my ankle how can I make it tight?

it starts off tight but then it gets loose and it makes me skate bad. I tie my laces around my ankle for support but it still loosens up. any suggestions?

get wax laces if you don't have them. I started using them and it's incredible how much tighter it makes them.If that doesn't work those skates suck. Get new ones. I'm pretty sure there's some tool that helps you tie them tighter too. I hope this helps.
Reply:Are your skates the right size? Get waxed laces and never tie your laces around your ankles. Put tape around top of your skate boot and ankle for support.

Reply:Hit the weight room, tighten those laces harder man.
Reply:It sounds as if you might have a pair of skates that are too large to begin with. If you really need to, you can take a roll of duct tape and wrap it around your ankle areas a few times, but that won't give you the same support as if you were using the correct size skates.


You can also take another pair of laces and wrap those around the ankle support area and tie them very tightly.
Reply:I personally like to get some silver duct tape and wrap it around a few times. It can be hell to get it off, but its worth it.


But you could always get skates that properly fit you, too.
Reply:Unfortunately it's part of skating. Skates are supposed to be a bit flexible to prevent injury to the ankle. The best thing to do is ankle exercises to stregthen your ankles and also flex exercises to make them more flexible. Or just keep skating and your ankles will take care of themselves.

Reply:buy waxed laces. they take a little more effort to tie, but they stay tight.


personally, i like looser laces. i dont lace up the top hole (bobby orr actually didn't lace up the top 3 holes) because it makes it easier to keep my knees bent so i can skate faster. but if you like them tight, thats fine. make sure you bend your knees a lot when you sprint (on skates, duh) so you get more power. you're supposed to have your knees at an almost 90 degree angle when youre going fast

2. put soft tissue at ur ankle and tie real tight


3. or put wax on ur laces, my brother used to put wax on his... i aint sure why though?
