Beginner Ice Skates?

I'm just about to start figure skating lessons, and I was just after some advise on the best beginners figure skate to buy? Can you provide any recommendations on brands etc?

I have also heard that I will need to buy a different set of blades once I start learning jumps, is this correct?

Thanks in advance for your help :o)

Beginner Ice Skates?
I love Riedell's. I've been skating in them forever. Here is a recommendation chart you can look at: http://riedellskates.com/fit/boots.html you can see which boots will carry you up from your level to higher ones. As for the blades. You only really need a better blade when you start doing high level spins and high doubles such as the flip, loop, and lutz. When I started learning sitspins I got the Riedell 320's. Those carried me into learning double jumps. If you skate often enough your boots should wear out in about 3 years, and at that point you'll have to get a new pair of skates anyway.
Reply:Risport Are Good

And Jackson Skates are too

And not too exspencive!

Hope You make the right choice!..Enjoy! =]

Good luck with Skating x
Reply:jackson classique are nice beginner skates. you don't have to get a new blade just cause you start jumping.
Reply:Hey there! I am a beginner and recently I started figure skating lessons as well. As far as the skates go, I strongly recommend Riedell's. The Riedell 121 Blue Ribbon is your best bet! They are extremely comfortable and really good for beginners. They are about 120$, but like I said, they are good. You can find them at:

As for the blades, I wouldn't worry that much for now. You will be amazed at how much you have to do before the actual jumping and spinning. But if you're really interested, ask your coach and he/she will tell you about the blades.

Good Luck on the lessons! ^_^*
Reply:My sister figure skates, and I've noticed that all figure skates kind of make you stay up easier. A lot of the kids have Ridell skates I think it's called. Good luck!
Reply:Here's one good piece of advice. If you find skates and can fold the top of them over, don't buy them! No matter how cheap they are, it's not worth risking your safety and your feet for the price!

A good beginning boot for anyone around 10 and above is a Jackson Freestyle with the stock blade.
Reply:I think that Jacksons are a good brand.

When I went to the skate shop, the owner

recommended Jackson over Reidell, he

said Jackson is a better skate for the money.

I have the Jackson Artiste, it is a beginner

skate but it's really good, especially since

you're a beginner too. And don't worry about the

blades yet, it will be a while before you have to

think about that.

Good luck :)
