I have Jackson figure skates and they smell really bad even though they are new. Help!?

I just got my skates about a month or so ago and they already smell really bad. Its embarassing and I do not know what to do. I had my Riedell's for 6 years and they never smelled. Please give me some advice. I wash my feet a lot and do everything I can think of to get rid of the smell.

Are you skates wet on the inside? Water gets absorbed into the leather of the sole (soles on skates are compressed leather, not wood) and don't dry out quickly, causing them to stink. In bad cases, the inside of the skates can mildew and get spots on the inside. The coating on a pair of my boots cracked once, water got inside and couldn't dry out. They smelled awful and it wasn't my feet!! When you're done skating, take your skates out of your bag, take off your soakers and let them dry out for as long as you can. You can also try Stinkeez......

You put them in your boots and they absorb moisture and they smell good. I bought a pair of used boots for my stepdaughter and they smelled like mothballs when we got them. I put the Stinkeez in them for awhile, and it took some of the smell away.

Good luck!!
Reply:Sounds like you haven't used snowkote on the bottoms of your skates and the boots. Jacksons would not have the snowkote on them as they are usually a recreational skate.
Reply:I had a similar problem with my Jackson skates, but never encountered such a problem with my Riedell skates. Are you letting your skates dry out after each session (inside and out)? Another thing you can get which can help with smelly skates are Stink-eez which are inserts that help get rid of skate odor. http://www.stink-eez.com/
Reply:get that shoe cleaning stuff
Reply:Try spraying them with Febreze (in the laundry aisle) and alway air them out after wearing. It's interesting that Jackson's smell bad and Reidell's didn't. My daughter has Jackson's and we're always trying to deal with the smell!
