Why do my hockey skates slip when I stride forward?

Have your skates sharpened. Run the back of your fingernail accross the edge of the blade and if it doesnt shave a thin layer off, they are dull.
Reply:Sharpen them for sure, but I have some advice before you do... Plan it out, make sure you sharpen your skates a couple days before any games or other big events. Give yourself time to get used to it. When you first get skates sharpened, it's hard to get used to stopping, it's kinda rough and sudden at first, but you'll get used to it, and then it'll be back to a normal stop.
Reply:if you get them sharpened, they will be better. sharpening will remove any kinks in your blade.
