How much bigger in size can I by my son's hockey skates?

In order to avoid having to buy skates again next season (hopefully getting s seasons out of a pair), how much bigger can I buy the skates? 1 size? 2 size?

How much bigger in size can I by my son's hockey skates?
Buying them too big is not a good idea. Skates need to fit properly!!!!

At his age they will need new skates every year, unfortunately. But, most places have a decent trade in policy, as they realize kids grow out of skates yearly.
Reply:0 sizes. You can't get skates too big- they will hurt his feet and be less effective.

my advice is to get a used pair at play it again sports or a similar place- some large pro shops have used skates- until he slows down growing.
Reply:I think you'll be okay buying them half a size bigger so he has a little room to grow. When my little bro got his skates the guys at the pro shop said that would be fine. Take him to a pro shop and have the guys there fit him. If you buy the skates there, you might pay a little more, but the service you'll get should be worth it. Plus, a lot of times you get some free sharpening. Or you can have them fit him and then buy the skates that fit him off the internet. Good luck. :)
Reply:Check with a sports store, they now have adjustable ice skates that will "grow" with your child. They are more expensive at first but cheaper than buying 2 or 3 pair.
Reply:Skates need to be the right size. You can get away with slightly larger, but that's about it. My son usually goes through one pair of skates a season, but when he's had growth spurts it's been two pairs. Just keep in mind ... if you can't skate well, you can't play hockey well. Skating is the foundation of the sport. Play it Again Sports is a great place for used skates. We've traded up there many times. I've tried eBay a couple of times, but it's difficult to buy skates without trying them on and they usually don't work. However, it's a great place for breezers, and other equipment. Good luck to you!
Reply:You should get the right size, if necessary, only a half size larger. I understand skates can be expensive, but it can really damage your ankles and feet if the skates are too big.
Reply:Skate need to be the proper size to give good ankle support. I have seen kids with the wrong size and they have trouble with their balance.
Reply:you can gradually go from two pairs of socks, down to no socks so get him trying skates on double socked. Probably a size and a half larger.Ultimately the best way to skate is with no socks I always went bare footed it actually helps your feet stay warmer.

Jusy keep them tied tight use a skate key and be sure they are snugged up.
Reply:buy them his size.if he likes his skates tite then his size.if not then 1 size up
Reply:Don't fool around with skates. Buy them the correct size or you son will have painful feet.
